Inspired to RISE - Day 4 Bible Plan

How You are Influenced Is Influencing Others

DEVOTIONAL

Our world is obsessed with being influenced. Everyone is following someone and when we follow someone, we become like them.

Jesus was God, which meant he had some very important work to do. According to Ephesians 2:10, Jesus also has important work for you to do. With Jesus being God, we might assume he never got tired or worn out, and was ready for everything all the time. Yet we often see moments throughout his ministry where he went to be alone and spent time with the Father in prayer. One example is found in Luke 6:12 where Jesus spends all night in prayer with his Father right before he has a very big decision to make. This decision would change the world forever: who would he choose to be his first disciples? Who would carry this groundbreaking message to their world? Jesus spent time in prayer with the Father to prepare and to make sure he was doing the Father’s will. What we spend time doing influences the decisions we make and the way we influence others.

Are the people you follow leading you to where you want to go and to whom God has called you to be? Is the music you're listening to inspiring you to love God and love others more? Are the YouTubers you watch filling your mind with light and peace? Are your closest friends influencing you to make wise choices?

Whatever influences you flows through you to influence others.
